I have nothing against Christian fiction, and I certainly understand why there is a market for it, considering that a lot of what is popular in YA fantasy and even most YA realistic fiction right now isn't exactly stuff that makes it easy to wear a WWJD bracelet while reading. There are a few kisses, but they description lasts a few words rather than paragraphs or even sentences. An award-winning historical romance—a creative retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale—by author Melanie Dickerson Perfect for readers ages and adults who enjoy historical romances similar to Eva Ibbotson's A romantic, fast-paced read—sure to entrance fans of fairytale retellings. Feb 03, Rosanna Threakall rated it it was amazing Shelves: The romance was far too clean for my tastes. Her books are the BEST!!!!!!! While she often feels uneasy at the sight of blood, Rose is determined to prove herself capable.
Do I need to say more? Melanie did a great job setting each character up and have each of them grow in different ways.

Melanie Dickerson created a vivid medieval world and set a beautiful love story in these charmed surroundings. Enter Lord Hamlin, to whom Rose must minister after he is injured. I was really enjoying this as a sweet historical romance with a bit of a fantasy flare to it But then switch back over to Hamlin. Rose soon catches the eye of the philandering Lord Rupert, Lord Hamlin's brother, and a romance ensues.
Rose, the heroine, not only has to deal with learning that her parent's aren't who she believed them to be but also deal with a very handsome young man who isn't who he seems to be.

This book is a perfect example of all that I hate when reading or listening. And why did Moncore know she was the one who hid the child?
I don't always like love triangles, but this one worked well. You can't help but love the characters in the beginning they are all so sweet, pure, and innocent. I'm sure that even though this story takes place centuries ago girls will be able to relate to the pressures that Rose faces in her life. Keep in mind I did not know this book was released by a christian fiction publisher, so readers beware.

THE HEALER’S APPRENTICE BY MELANIE DICKERSON//BOOK REVIEW
This was one star for the whole first half, but I upped it by one star because I felt like a knew where the author wanted to go, but all in all, it was coated too heavily with the sugar.
He does actually try to do these things, and the result of his attempts to terrorize a certain character with demons could be scary to younger or sensitive readers.

Oct 01, Amy rated it really liked it Shelves: I enjoyed this take on my precious Sleepy Beauty story and was shocked at how things played out.
The Healer's Apprentice was a very interesting book and I quite loved it! Anyway, now I know it was supposed to be Sleeping Beauty.
The Healer's Apprentice
I liked dickerrson as a person, though she often got a bit dramatic. It doesn't have any magic and there are quite a few differences from the original tale, but it is a very enjoyable read and I loved all the nuances in the book. But in the end, he ends up dying and through the power of God all the demons end up leaving and we get a happily ever after. Crazy for Young A I read the golden braid first, because I didn't realize it was part of this series and the cover got my attention; then I read fairiest beauty and the captive maiden after that.
The book has 28 chapters, and Rose cries in 26 of them.
